Intimate Traps
Literary/Speculative
Telepathy; androids; polyamory; seduction. What does it mean to be intimate, to achieve intimacy with others, and when and why might the language of entrapment tellingly offer something to our ability to engage in meaningful relations? “Intimate Traps” narrativizes the intertwining of the lives of six main characters: Sky (a graduate art student in the final year of their degree program); Araceli (a Spanish immigrant and clean energy analyst); Bud (a faculty applicant to the Bardo College Art Department); Chad (a prototype human-passing android who seems to be working every job in town); Mave (an editor at a successful literary press); and Luis (Sky’s fellow graduate student in art).
